Having already blogged once about Scripture in Space I was intrigued to read that “Faith Comes by Hearing is launching a new Aerospace Division, headed up by retired Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Gregg Leisman”. You can read more on MNN, the Mission Network News site.

The US version of the story doesn’t feature the Clangers (a very British kind of hand knitted alien) and is actually about the use of satellites.

FCBH are doing an amazing job and there are many others that have been working in Radio and TV ministries to hard to reach countries producing good Biblical material in national and local languages. (I’ll talk about bad Christian TV in another post) The ability do things on an ever smaller scale means that content is also available in minority languages and address local issues. .

“When you look at what the need is, as far as getting the Bible out, small satellites are a really good solution for that,” explains Leisman.

In many ways and in many places I’d agree. Meanwhile in communities that Christians are already present I’d have to add:

“When you look at what the need is, as far as getting the Bible out, people are a really good solution for that” …even if it’s just to talk through what was on the TV.
