Wycliffe goes web 2.0

It’s been quietly happening for a while but more and more Wycliffe organizations and members are using social media to tell their stories and connect with friends and supporters.

For example…

You can follow Wycliffe UK via their blog, twitter feed, facebook pages (and facebook applications), website,  or you can phone them ask to get the magazine or prayer guide.

Some of the Wycliffe USA communications team are currently visiting Uganda and Tanzania, and sending lots of good material back via, their blog, twitter, facebook page, youtube, tangle, and posting photos on flickr.

My role within Wycliffe International includes encouraging conversation and cooperation between the different organizations so that we all use these new technologies well and wisely.

Around the world lots of individual members are also sharing up to the minute news via all these different media, and thanks to Google translate I’m no longer confined to just reading the ones in English.

I’m now getting instant updates from over 50 different sites (fed to one just one Google reader page) and sharing what I consider to be some of the most interesting posts at the click of a mouse. (displayed on the left and here)

In todays web 2.0 world if you are not yet using Google reader (or something similar) I’d highly recommend it. You might even like to include the feed from this blog or my shared items, and pass on the stories you think your friends might be encouraged by 🙂
